View Full Version : Jema can't post, anyone else?

Jema's having a problem posting that seems to be ISP related because it's not just on Ninja's, and it's happening on more than one of his machines. When he tries to post it doesn't seem to load the submit page and ends up in a " Page cannot be displayed" error.
Just trying to narrow down the cause, has anyone else had this problem before?

I had this once before, but that was when the DNS moved, and I'd left the old IP in my Hosts file.

this is across a number of machines though

Are they all part of the same network? If so, the host machine may have the problem, and that would affect all of them.
Just a thought.

Well..it seems to be fixed now jema? You've posted....at least...i think you did :)
I did have some issues with the NM page about 2 hours ago...the front page loaded without any hot topic content and the forum front page loaded as a REALLY big page, with nothing at the start and a few miles down the forum list.
A few miles to the right was my avatar...

Can elfy post at all ?
if i remember correctly you can post from within callisto have you tried with/without callisto?
Long shot you could try downloading a free isp trial - aol or something and seeing if that helps
you have a lot of posts here so something is getting through - very strange :dunno:
speculative

Yes, posts are showing up - are these updates from a machine that can post while others can't then? Hope you get it sorted soon. :)

try clearing the DNS cache..
To clear it type the following in a command prompt: ipconfig /flushdns

Put win2k on all the pc's
:D
can your xp Pc's post at MJ ? if not sounds like there may be some setting somewhere you are missing. If win2k posts 100% everywhere it cant be the isp and probably not your pc's (no 2 pc's are EVER configured the same) My guess is something to do with the install.
(where the xp PC's machines able to post previously ? have you applied any patches or updates? )

Win2k rules! :D
Seriously, I have yet to meet someone who hasn't had problems with XP somewhere. I can only assume that (yet again) Microsoft has released an operating system that is so full of bugs, it'll take about 10 service packs to sort it out.
Win2000 is now very stable, but it's 3 years old. Win98 is also pretty good, but it's 5 years old. Win XP is very new, and therefore still buggy as H*ll.
I wonder what W2005 is going to be like?

w2k still working?
jema
2nd July 2003, 07:00 AM
I guess the fact that seti is also not connecting from XP is related? this is of course posted on w2k. Flushing DNS caches comes up with orindal 1001 not found, and is an unliekly answer anyway. I think the anser might lie in the fact that XP seems to have an "internet gateway" all of a sudden, I think this is taking over the internet connection and causing the problem.

I bet I have some nasty spyware screwing things, I just cannot figure out why I got it and why 2 PCs would have a problem :( running AdAware did not solve things.

Have you "allowed" ninjamicros in your settings Jema?

given that nonthing has been changed anywhere, this has to be at the router/isp level...

It does seem that an alternative proxy server is the answer. I had tried two, but someone found one that does work :)

Hi,
glad you got it working Jema :) .... One thing I have noticed is that Blueyonder is starting to shut down many of its webcaches and I wonder if NTL are starting to do the same so that they can have more central ones :( and maybe that it is causing strange probs somehow!

ntl are switching the names of their proxy servers, but why this should translating into a posting problem is beyond me  there was abolsutely no sign of a problem with just browsing.
