Dnet update for 20-May-2003 to 21-May-2003

An absolutely outstanding day in Dnet! LinearA comes through with an amazing dump of 8K+ in OGR-24 and has to be awarded a CrunchMaster award for the stunning kick butt performance that netted the team a rise of four places in this project, from number 86 to number 82. He not only crunched those three teams I’ve been saying we getting so close to, he jumped the next interval, crunched a fourth team and then got us to within striking distance of yet a fifth team! However, I have to award a second award to Vinovia who basically set LB up for this awesome crunch by his own steady production in this “dead” project. So … to our dual CrunchMasters! *salutes*

>CrunchMaster< - LinearA – for single-handedly crunching 4 teams in the Top 100 in OGR-24
>CrunchMaster< - Vinovia – for the foresight to save up OGR-24 stubs and set up LA for the magnificent crunch!

OGR-25 had another sterling performance, with the team placing in the Top50 worldwide for the 2nd time in three days and leading to a rise of 9 places in the standings. Along the ws Jed manged to quadruple his OGR-25 score ... yowsa! Unless something awful happens tomorrow, we will break the 500 barrier then.

In RC5 we regained one of our lost placings, rising back to #64 (and placing 64th worldwide for the day … odd symmetry that …). Solid production across the board was the cause of that.

I have no official report in 17oB because I don’t intend to stay up long enough to see the stats update, but I can tell you that we will rise another 4 spots (to #78). Between these four teams and their rises today, our DCR math score should see a positive increment.

In RSA576, we have covered half the distance to the Dutch Power Cows. Once we reach that team, we will be within striking distance of 3 or 4 other teams. No word yet on when this project or ECC2 will be added to the DC Repository for ranking, but it will come and when it does … the results will be very nice to see.

Hmmm … I see I’ve been loquacious yet again …

Some days I just hate my sleep habits ... I really wanted to get some good sleep tonite and here it is nigh on 1:30am ...

However ... I can say that the team officially climbed 4 more places in 17oB ... though I must admit to having had some problems myself with the client today ... more on that in a different thread.

One other thing ... I heard back from Dave Bercik of DC Repository and our two new Math projects should show up in the next run of the stats. I do not want to sound over-confident ... but I think that this could not only make a difference in Team Ninja's ranking within the Math segment of the DCR ... I think it could actually gain us a place in the overall rankings as well!

Which is good, because that #26 ranking (overall) has been really getting under my skin! That combined with the fact that any rise in any of our projects (save ECC2 ... where we have a long, long way to go), will also show up in the standings in DCR. All three Dnet projects, 17oB and RSA576 are at a point where even small rises can start having a marked effect.

Right now TN's math third of the total ranking is the team's weakest third ... my unabashed goal is to make it the strongest third. I think we can do that in the not too distant future.

Great report ther 10:13, both myself and Dave (vinny) still have a few OGR-24 stubs stashed away so hopefully our rise will continue ;)

I too would like to see the Maths portion of the DC stats be the strongest and I'll be re-focusing my efforts accordingly.

That was a fantastic :read: 10 - thanks for that.

A wonderful effort by LA and Vin - and by everyone else on the Team as well!

Onwards and upwards (as somone is known to say....)

I've probably got enough stubs to get us in the top 50
Trouble is I don't have the resource to process them all before they expire.

Anyone want some??

I'll have some to help get them crunched !!

Email them to terminator at ninjamicros.com and I'll get cracking :)

Great :read: thanks 10

We're making great progress for the few members we have :worship:

So what's the best project for P4-Xeon's ? I'm tempted to stick'em on OGR because the client is stable and easy to hide, 17ob I'm not too keen on because it's very obvious it's there

I can help out here (if Termie hasn't helped completely ... I wouldn't mind trying to reach 100K)

no problem either way, just let me know

Given the probs I had yesterday with 17ob I wouldn't use that ... I'm going to try to sort a description out of what I experienced in another thread. rsa576 is said to work much better on AMD chips but is run as a cli and therefore capable of being a service ... however from my reading it has had problems with its server being available in the past. It's now on a new server and I haven't had any problems yet ... but I'd still classify it as requiring babysitting until more time has passed. So I'd have to agree that Dnet sounds like your best bet. ECC2 would be a second chioce from among the newer projects becuase it's probably the most stable and also runs as a CLI (and ergo hidable) ... but it's noted to be AMD friendly so ....

Sorry for late reply 10:13 but I have had my dual 1900's out of action. (Hard drive corrupt)
