Hello and good morning fellow genomers to this historic day. Indeed it is the last commentary pertaining to the Era of the v0.99 Genome@home client. the server has been shut down yesterday. Please see http://genomeathome.stanford.edu/new.html for the official info.

The Stats snapshot has been taken and the official pages are located at: http://genomeathome.stanford.edu/may5stats/index.html

It has been a pleasure crunching with the v0.99 client. Reliability, stability and -nonet made it one of the easiest to use.
Sadly, the same could/can not be said about another very important aspect of the DC world. The stats and their chronic update problems and, most disheartening, loss of units that never got credited.
Will things get better with the exclusive use of the v2 client? Doubtful. the stats engine will still be the same (slow) "lossy" one. The client seems to run fine on a number of rigs but refuses to work on others. Very hit and miss... There's no -nonet option although third party programs can help in that regard. UD Monitor comes to mind.

We shall see how G@H2 will fare now that the plug has been pulled on the v0.99 client.

We have a few teams to catch, so I hope not all of you will wander off to other galaxies and will remain with us, at least to give it a try :)

Thanks for listening and on to the daily routine then :D

An excellent :read: Rag, and a lasting tribute to your commitment to Genome and our Team.

It is a sad day in a way, but there are new challenges ahead, and I won't be satisfied until we've stomped Ars Technica! :D

Well done to everyone on the Team. A magnificent effort by all concerned.

As to the MeadeFleet, the trip to an alternate universe is only temporary, and it will be returning just as soon as I've "done my bit" for our fellow Teams (and not just DF).

Onwards and upwards, all Team Ninja projects!
