Losing Units?

Hmm,
since I have started using Hawkeyes proxy I have been able to track the number of completed blocks I have been uploading in a given day a bit more closely. Anyway, over the last few days I have noticed that Dnet is consistantly not crediting me with all the blocks I have done.

I appreciate that Hawkeyes site is down right now, and the number of blocks lost each day is relatively small, but its still not right that I should be losing any work at all. On Wednesday I uploaded 425 units (according to the Hawkeye proxy) but was only credited with 417 units according to the Dnet stats, and on Thursday I uploaded 428 units, and have only been credited with 418.

I have in the past been somewhat dubious about the number of blocks credited by the Dnet stats, but until now I have had no means of checking and being sure. Now I do, and it seems that I am losing around 10 blocks on average each day...... and that value seems to be getting worse :(

Am I doing something wrong when uploading? Or are the units time limited when given out (i.e. they can expire and not be valid any more?)? I typically have alot of WUs cached, enough for maybe 2 weeks full time crunching at a push, perhaps my units are so old they are expiring before I crunch them?

Hawkeye's stats cutoff time is probably slightly different to Dnet's, although any shortfall should showup the next day - with my work stuff uploading directly to Hawkeye's proxy I haven't a clue if I'm losing units or not :(

The cutoff shouldn't matter at all,
because I always dump my work in 1 large dump, usually at about 6 to 7pm. Unless you are telling me the cutoff is at 7pm, I fail to see how I could be missing it.

And over 3 days I have yet to see any of my lost work units turn up either. :fuming:

Is it possible that you are getting some duplicate blocks?

I don't know much about this, but I do believe there's something in the FAQ at Dnet about this.


Just a thought, although that many would be stretching things rather a lot.....:(

Hmmm,
I have checked my personal proxy log, and interestingly it states that I only uploaded 415 units yesterday, so somehow Hawkeyes proxy is crediting me with extra work units. I will keep a close eye on this in future, now I have worked out where the log file for my proxy sits..... ;)
