Hiya

I've noticed the entire TP forums are now gone - which is fair, as we've managed to get ours up and running now (although they'll take some fine tuning before they are finalised)

I'd like to ask that you leave a forum header (underneath the Ninja DC teams, obviously) for Team Picard, which forwards through to our forums at: http://forums.teampicard.com/index.php?

I'm happy to have a reciprocal link, but would like any Picardians or visitors to be able to find the new Picard board, from their old home - and not get confused into thinking that you are Team Picard (especially now you've changed the name to a Trek style "the next generation"), as it was actually one of the ideas for changing the Team Picard name to. :)

It would go a long way to silencing critics like Ciccio, who think there is some animosity, or that you are trying to capitalise on the Picard team leaving, which I don't believe for a second.

All the best for the future, I look forward to racing Ninja, TPR, and OcUK (who all share a history) in SETI2

I don't think that is too much to ask :)

:D No worries.

The last thing I think any of the TN/TP Mods want is an OcUK/TPR type split.

I'm not nessesarily the bst person to pour oil on the water, but I'll do what I can.

Ok, my slant on it is this:

One of the big issues during the recent fracas was the fact that we had two teams sharing the same forums and the view was that this was counterproductive for both teams. This idea would put us back at square one with the only difference being that Team Picard is no longer hosted here. In light of this I am sorry to say that I am opposed to a forum link (they mess up the forums anyway).
However, I have no such misgivings against a front page graphical link or an entry in our links database (or even both) provided that Team Picard reciprocate. This provides the links to each other's sites whilst providing the necessary buffer between teams and should anyone ask the whereabouts of old friends it would be a small matter to point them in the direction of the relevant link.

Well... I think I agree with both views... How about a Forum link for a while??? say a month or so? then removing it and putting it on the frontpage or similar...

Just as a transition phase for members getting lost...:)

I agree; I think a forum link would be too confusing, but if TP wants to exchange main page links I think that would be fine. The original mass-emailing was sent out back on January 13th - if people haven't been around for over 5 weeks... If we're trying to catch people that come to the forums only once every few months then I think a main page link would offer them much more of a clean slate for getting over to the TP forums. :)

OK... However you want to play it. I don't think it would be confusing (it hasn't been for the last 9 months) but I do understand your reticence.

Tweety has the gist of what I'm trying to do - I'm not for a second assuming it would be a permanent thing, but more a short term measure.

Thanks all.

Situation for the past 9 months vs. situation today is not the same thing, so I'm not sure what you're getting at here...

The situation for the last 9 months was one of the reasons for the split I was led to believe. The fact that Team Picard and Team Ninja were sharing one forum was a major factor and there is nothing that I can see that would make that "right" now when it was so "wrong" then, it was after all Team Picard who were complaining about it and not us. One of the issues I've read that you are concerned about is that strays may think that the team have merely changed names but to me it would be immediately obvious that this is not the case - where are all of the well known names? Anyone wishing to know the whereabouts of Team Picard would be given them without hesitation, we are not in the pimping business. The options of a front page graphical link and an entry in the links database seem perfectly fair to me and could be of a far more permanent nature.

Hi people

think this is as far as this thread should go or we will be going backwards again and i am just recovering from the past episode so lets agreed to what Rids has advised its seems fair/reasonable under the circumstances and leave it at that

The options of a front page graphical link and an entry in the links database seem perfectly fair to me and could be of a far more permanent nature

regards to all concerned

:sunshine: A hand up is cool, a hand out, different all together.

Sharing links is a mutually equally satisfying way, or whatever RIDS said... is what I liked... should anyone care....

And I respect your candor DATA, and caution... impluse speed is sometimes better than full warp, right out of the gate... hmmm?
