I connected the 5th L3 bridge but i still cant select any other multiplier than 15 or Auto for my 2400+.
:confused:
Now the L3's look like this:
_
_
_
..
_ <- connected this one
Isnt this supposed to work??

I thought you were supposed to unlock all of the bridges? Or is that just for the Pally's?

For TBird and Pally its all L1 bridges indeed but supposedly the 5th L3 for the TBred should be enough... :rolleyes:
I've unlocked a few Pally's so im confident i didnt mess the connection up on that L3 bridge....

hmm..let me look and see what I can find for you Rags. Which Mobo is this for again? The epox?

Hi Rag
My first thought is which bios do you have
also see Ninja FAQ for XP Tbred unlock tip by Baldy

first of all, I looked at my L3 mapping config and I find absolutely no reference to the L3 combo you are doing, doesn't exist.
if you review the L3 mappage, the combo you show isn't mapped, so it prolly is reserved and not making a bit of difference.
as far as the 8k3a goes, are you trying to get lower x's so that you can up the FSB???
if so, from 7x up to 13 x will give you +8 on the multipier, 7x=15x and so on.
you can also get the lower x's with the vid pin trick, my personal favorite, easy, takes less than 5 minutes, it works.
hope you get it sorted out, i have already ventured into popping bridges with a 9volt battery with pins soldered to wires attached to the battery terminals.
you should get the conductive paint and some scotch tape out, gonna have to reconnect some stuff.
keep us up to date on yer progress.

@Jed: latest available bios for the epox 8k3a
@Baldy: Well..ok..what i wanted to do is run it at 12x166 for a comparison i want to run (and prove, again, that the Epox is slower on a 166 FSB than on 133, at the same cpu core speed)
I've found several sites that say that connecting only the last (5th) L3 bridge should unlock the cpu...wait..fetching links, coming soon in next post :)

From VR Zone:
Yok from Japan has another way of unlocking your T'Bred by connecting the 2 pins (VSS and NC) together as shown above. This method is just like pin modding the Northwood to get higher VCore voltage where you can either use a thin wire or conductive grease the connect the pins together. This way works the same as connecting 5th bridge of L3 as demonstrated by Gao the previous week so apply either method which is easier for you.
And another one:

Hi Rag
I run three epox mobo's 8k3a, 8k9a, 8rda, and they all run faster @166mhz while crunching, than they do @ 133mhz, The higher I go the faster they get. These all run with ram that will also run at the most agressive speeds.
If you wire the zif socket as per the tip given, you will be able to drop multipier and increase the FSB.

Well I've done benchmarks on 133 vs 166 Mhz in a review here, check it out and you'll see that there are problems with the 166 Mhz FSB.
I recently redid the tests with a newer (latest now) bios and still the same, some things are a few % faster, others get slower (Like DF for example)...

Hi Rag
I can't explain why, only I know for a fact mine run faster.
I did read the review, and did try again @133mhz and my times just got slower.
@166mhz and above my seti wu's were down to sub 2hrs
Df @ 166 an above 450k + a day on the last 108 protein.
So I can only assume we are doing something differant.
My boards run only dc nothing else, only a video card ,nic,ram,
an HDD.
I still have to upgrade the bios on the 8k3a.

I love this....
It simply started working now! I didnt change a thing!....
downside is..the AUTO setting is now working at 11.5x or somethig like that meaning i cant run it at full speed at 133Mhz FSB anymore :roflmao:
:scratch:
Multipliers are:
From 6 to 12 they are not remapped.
13x=12.5
14=5
15=5.5
Anyway, im now using 185x11.5 at CAS2 and well....I'm not seeing my times go down on seti... in fact they seem to be a minut or so slower than at 133 FSB... :( :(
