Mostly they say it is a bit disapointing and not worth the price over the Radeon 9700. Where to now?

I'm sure driver improvements will help. The review at [H] mentioned texture problems with some of the AA modes, so no doubt they'll be cleared up in time. I expect the newer drivers will also add performance increses.
Also in the [H] review, they have a couple of hi-res shots from UT2K3. Looking at them, the 9700 wins hands down. A clearer image, items in the disance are more recognisable, and frame rates are definately up.
But then ATi weren't exactly popular with users to start with as their drivers contained all sorts of bugs and sneaky tricks (remember the Quake 3 trick?).
Give it a bit of time, and I think the FX will turn out to be a decent card. Maybe not worth the initial asking price, but it will come down a month or two after release.
