Have just finished building 'Spartiate' and installed a slipstreamed XP Pro..and visited Windows Update for all that nice security vulnerability goodness ..but the scan produces no necessary updates!

Anybody aware of a problem with MS ? or have they caught up with my serial key :D

only valid copies of xp pro will be reconized for ms updates, they have fixed it so you cannot update illegal copies:rolleyes:

It's possible. It's a constant process.

Equally there could be a problem with the MS site. You could always leave it a day or so, and then and visit the site again to see what happens.

I'd try it again Squeaky - if you tried it yesterday then it could have been due to the Internet worm that was chewing on everything. Good luck!

I couldnt download service pack 1 this weekend, so could be a prob there...
did your serial number begin with "fckg" or something like that?
if so you have to change it...drop us a PM if you havent been forwarded the instructions already ;)

In a bizarre twist all is now well and dandy!

thanks for the offer Wylie, had already done so previously but thought *they'd* caught up with me again ;)

and for the sake of appearances..I DO own a legitimate copy of Windows ME, 2000 and XP home..but am testing xp pro :D
