The highest XP my board will support is either the XP2400 or XP2600 (266mhz). I fancy a CPU upgrade to take this board as far as it will go before I move to a new platform and to push my 9700Pro. So I have some questions for you good folk.

As the 2600's (266mhz) are;

a: rare
b: expensive

I've been considering the 2400. When it comes to overclocking my board has never been stable above 146/148 fsb and I'm uncomfortable trying to push my IBM HDD's too high. So I was hoping on around 16x146-150=2336mhz-2400mhz to last me until Hammer or Intel alternatives settle down towards the end of the year.

To get a 16x multiplier on a 2400 I understand I will have to paint the bridges to that multiplier as my Epox will not recongnise it as unlocked unlike KT400 boards. Is this correct?

I do not want to fully unlock it as I will only get multipliers below 13, which I do not get a high enough fsb to warrent doing. Is this assumption correct also?

Are there any cheaper XP's which regularly clock to the same level as the XP2400. If I'm only aiming for between 2300-2400mhz can an 2100/2200 acheive that with air cooling? Is unlocking an 2100/2200 any different from an 2400. Will they be a or b steppings?

Voltage - i can set voltages on Palomino's within the bios on the 8KHA+ - is this also true for T-Breds so I dont need to paint any bridges for voltages. What voltages will I need, I take it lower than my XP1600 - which should help cooling.

Thanks for any input.
