Hi Folks,

I have a specific amount of money to spend. The following two options are available to me. Which would you consider to be the best one?

XP2100 or MP1800

I have no way of unlocking an XP - I just don't have the skill, so it's a straight pick between what you can wind an MP1800 up to, or run an XP2100 (at a max of probably no more than 141FSB)

Help please - I can't decide which way to go.

work with most boards, redundant on the newer ones, just take one wire out of an old IDE ribbon, about 1/2" long, bend in 'u', insert, reinsert cpu.

total time 5 minutes if handy, ten minutes if a clutz.

go for it.

works for all the newer XP's, .013, with the unlocked L1's from the factory.

using it now with and XP2400+ on and Epox 8k3a+.

make life easy, and no marks on the precious CPU.

b:rolleyes:

Used the wire link mod posted above to unlock a t'bred 1800 I've just bought for my ASUS A7N8X.

It ran happily at 166 FSB with default volts with the multiplier set to 10.5 instead of the default 11.5. I've now set the multiplier back to 11.5, upped the volts to 1.60 and I'm stable at 1913 MHz. Temps are still v. low, only 40 degrees at full load, don't think I'm done yet!

Thanks for all the info guy's, this is one great chip for £60 including postage!
