Just fitted new xp2100 but mobo is reading it incorrectly (xp1500)

Can i adjust settings in bios to get around this or will I need to flash the bios (rather not) for it to be recognised correctly.

It could need a BIOS flash, but have a look on the motherboard to see if there are jumpers for the multiplier and FSB. You might be able to change these things in your BIOS rather than using jumpers if you're lucky.

If everything is set to an auto-detect setting (or is set correctly for the XP2100), and it is still picking up the wrong CPU, then you'll need to flash it.

set jumper onboard to 133.

it is set to 100, thus the lower cpu speed.

Went in to Bios.

You were right it had gone back to 100:100 setings

changed to 133:133 and now displays correctly as an xp2100

Thanks people :)
