i got a 2k+ ona an AZZA (now XFX) moby and tha little bugger wont go above 140 on the fsb, my sweet 1600 plays quite happy on an abit kt7a-r at 155 with just standard cooling, i seem to notice that soft fsb works far better tan bios fsb's, anyone else had this ?, for example my loverly 1600 will dance loops using CPUFSB upto 155 and even 165 on one mad day !, but the AZZA aint in the list of supported PLL's for CPUFSB, my 2000+ is currently very stable at 1750 Mhz but even 1 more mhz knocks it over within an hour, cpu temp is steady at 51 ?? any thoughts ?
ohh yea.. details
AZZA VIA KT333 KT33-BV moby ELIXA 2100 ddr 256 meg strip open case 4500spin microfin fan, bogo standard sis 305 graphics card and a Net-Lynx 10/100 EP320 network card thats it :)

Hi there, RZ.
This is a very similar story to my XP2000. I thought mine was as a result of overheating (cr*p fan -no silver), but now I'm beginning to wonder....
I can get mine stable at 141FSB (just) under full load, but the temp hovers around 59/60C. I'll know more when I've installed my new fan (ta very much, BigBen - mead will be mailed out on Monday :D), and I put my new 550W PSU in.
(This is on a EPoX 8K3A, btw)

i think this is a case of the system setup, some hardware does not o/c very well ie: type of ram ,mobo and graphics card etc..

Hi Dodgy,
In my case, it's probably the graphics card, which is an antique in computer terms.
3D Rage Pro AGP 2x.
Time for another upgrade, perhaps?

Raid,.. I don't know the details of those Mobos you mention,.. but would it be worth trying a swap of the XP1600 and XP2000 in the Mobos to see what happens? That is assuming the older Abit still supports the XP2000... might be worth a try.

I had a xp2000+ which would not do much more (locked)..... you will need to unlock the chip and drop the multiplier then up the FSB ..... you may have to up the voltage

Can you change the PCI/FSB ratio in your Bios ?

Great advice peeps :), poor old abit will only goto 1900 :( so that ones out, and no there is just a fsb selector that goes from 100-200, no pci bus divider but at 140 the pci bus reports 34.5. i think i might have a go at unlocking it at this new moby says it can take any xp or mp :cunning: i do have a slight advantage tho, i got about a million quids worth o cpus to play with at my works, hehehe they sell hardware to the trade, Mwhahaha :cunning:
