Hi all, long time no speak :), hope everyone is ok, Ninja looks better than ever btw.

Just thought I'd try and get some feedback on a little bit of Freeware I knocked up to speed up Broadband connections.

Web Proxy Probe (http://www.emotipad.com/wpp.html)

Any comments would be appeciated. :)

Hi Dan,
I found it quite useful :) I switch between about 4 webcaches but this prg made it simple to see which were fastest and actually working without having to manually enter the IP address only to find it not working or is very slow ....

Hi m8

Glad you like it ......If there is anything alse you want in the program, just shout. It used to do averaging of results but in the end it turned out a 'once a pass' realtime figure was better.

Hi Dan,
Not sure if this a prob BUT I entered my local webcache which used to work well but no longer does but i did not know at the time, 192.168.100.1 port 8080 to test it ..... it was pinged and recorded 2ms :) the next quickest was about 9 or 10ms so I updated only to find no web access :( a few tests later and I realised the webcache is not working so it seems you can get force readings .... auto update would have kept putting the IP address into Internet explorer LAN connection settings

Well spotted!, I'll look at a way of specifying a file or another IP to show if the proxy is actually working. I'll give you a shout when I get this done.

Oops :), Hi m8

I must admit forgot all about this......to be honest I'm not sure the app is worth spending time on, what do you think ?

Hi,
For me at least I did/do find it useful in that I do not have to type in different proxies to find out which one is the quickest and working, as I said the only draw back for me was the force readings that I mentioned .... My friend Chris who is not to hot on computers phones me up saying he can't access the net (were are on the same ISP) and I talk him through putting a proxy in his LAN settings, with this tool he can do it himself as it has the proxies stored and so he can't forget the numbers (if he wrote it down he would lose the paper:rolleyes: ) So I think it is useful to me and a few of my friends once they are told how to use it.
