View Full Version : American Freedom Going Bye Bye

According to an article at the Drudge Report (http://www.drudgereport.com/), the Homeland Security Act, which looks like it will pass in the Senate, will make it legal to track and record every thing that a person does without needing any kind of court order or warrant. This, of course, is extremely dangerous, especially when you consider who will be in charge of it. Read the whole story here (http://www.nytimes.com/2002/11/14/opinion/14SAFI.html?ex=1037854800&en=3778829e1bec3dc2&ei=5062&partner=GOOGLE).

 Sounds terrible :violin: Specially if they also using it on Internet :typing: but they would have to stick to track US citizens...it is illegal here !
Come to think of it almost everything is illegal here for everybody, even for the police !

Well in the Uk we have teh the RIP act (Regulation of Investigatory Powers ), which means an ISP's will have to hold ur data (emails etc) for seven years ( think its seven anyway)when its fully implimented.

Offline records have to be kept for 7 years, which is what the government are pushing for with the RIP act - but in reality, it's likely to be a compromise of data for a year or two, and header info (who emailed who) for up to seven years.

It's all a bit too much "big brother" for me, but as the resources to mine such a huge amount of information is limited, little old me is reasonably obscure, in the grand scale of things.

It is a problem of erroding our rights, but set against being able to use it to track down terrorists etc. it's a sad price we are all going to have to live with, sooner or later.

Given my daily spam count currently running at 40 per day they are sure going to be keeping a lot of crud!

I think Ill rest easy that my terrorist activities are safely tucked away amid a plethora of penis enlargement and get rich quick adverts!

Incidently, if you want to send my international terrorism cell any secret info just paste it to the middle of a post that promises an extra 6" overnight etc, like they will find that baby amongst the 100,000 junk emails my ISP are keeping safe and secure for me :)

PS, lets all wave to the nice guys and gals at the CIA, FBI, NSA and MI5 whilst we are about it Im sure this post has flagfed a couple of keywords and has risen to the top of their must read list, and hey, isnt that a camera I can see in the black transit with the blacked out windows across the street
