View Full Version : Multiple PCs, one account?

I now have two PCs crunching on the same account for DF.
Both accounts the protein size is 129, (whatever that means)
I am concerned that both PCs are working on the same protein, and that one is just redoing the work that the other allready did???
I went to upload the results from PC #2 today, it connected, and NO results went up??? Its been working for 2 days.
Any Ideas?

Hi CS....
In DF, everyone works on the same protein. If you are setup to nonet, then
it will buffer the finished structures and
continue on. Are you using dfGUI by any chance?

Yes, DF Gui. I am not doing nonet, at least I don't think so. I upload manually with the upload button

ok. By design, DF is setup to upload every 5000 structures. If you look at dfGUI, near the top, you will see how many structures that machine has finished and then structures remaining then structures buffered. The structures remaining + the structures buffered equals 5000 unless you override the setting on the bottom RH corner with a check next to it. It sounds like your system is uploading automatically as it should. Are you on a permanent connection? If not, then there may be a problem. Otherwise, it sounds ok.

Thanks Stargazer, I think I have a grasp of it now. :D
It's so differrent from Seti, that having done Seti actually makes it harder to "get it" with DF than If I started as a total freshman. It took me 4 days and some extra second guessing before i realzed that I was allways workinhg on the same protien on the first PC. I had no idea we alll worked on the same one.

If you head over to the DF site and log into the High Flyers section (use your handle / password) you'll see all the info on you plus where we are on this current protein. The goal is 10 billion structures, then we'll all change over to a new protein (hopefully faster than this slow one).
