ok i wanted to ask this because i have this installed unreal tournament 2003 in 3 out of my 7 systems and all where stable up to one point.
i had the game running perfect with no crashed in all 3 systems
well one was a little unstable and i narrowed it down to 2 things....
1 microsoft intellimouse
the microsoft intellimouse would make my desk top freeze as well as my game ..yes it was the mouse read this (http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouse/letter.asp)i tested to make sure this was the problem 2 ways
A.I unpluged my usb intelli optical mouse and replced it with another
normal (old school)ball Mouse as was well no freezes on any system
B.pluged in another Optical Mouse(yes microsoft)and all was well
when i repluged back in the microsoft intellimouse the problems would come back again ....:(
(I replaced the microsoft intellimouse with a logicitech dual optical mouse now and it helped)on the freezzing but not in the game play much on one system.
2.Acrobat Reader 5.0.5
i had upgraded from Acrobat Reader 4.whatever to the 5.05 and my system was ok but when i went to play UT2003 the game would lock up once in a while i tried to install 5.05 all ways
a.before all other upgraded software
b.after all upgraded software
c.before acrobat 4.0
d.after acrobat 4.0
E..etc...etc...etc....
(note all this was on a newly reformated and fdisked HD and yes i reformated it about 20 times total to test this all out )
and the problem would always come back only when i added Acrobat Acrobat Reader 5.0.5
when i would delete Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 all would be ok in UT2003
so it might be a conflict with ut2003 with directX 8.1 and Acrobat Reader 5.0.5
try that to see if it helps you!
