Warning: This tip is only for the most advanced users. Tweaking the Registry is very risky. Always back up the Registry before you make any changes. To reset Windows 98 to alphabetize items in the Start menu, select the Start menu, Run, then enter RegEdit. Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, select Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/MenuOrder/StartMenu/Menu. In the right-hand pane, right-click on Order, then select Delete. In the confirmation box, choose Yes, close the editor, and restart Windows.
