Anyone know where I can get hold of the MP2200+ CPU's ? I've tried most of the usual suspects and can't find them anywhere :( the bank manager (wife) has given me the go ahead to get a nice dual cpu system, so I'm a little bit excited and want it yesterday :D - I've found a supplier for the MSI K7D Master-L Motherboard but can't find the CPU's anywhere.

TIA

Here you go m8.

Try http://www.scan.co.uk

Taken from their product list:

AMD Athlon MP 2200+ (Multi Processor) (1.80GHz) "Thoroughbred" Core 163.62 192.25

Thanks Meady :)

I've even got them bookmarked

Although they are VERY expensive, as a comparison Scan has the MP2000 @ £184.18 compared to klompett.co.uk @ £132.80  so unless I can find them cheaper I'll be waiting a little bit longer.

So you're not tempted to order a couple of XP2600's instead? :D

Terminator

Very tempted :D but the 2600's don't run in SMP system's unless you know sonething I don't :)

No, m8 - I don't know anything you don't....

....but I really want one! :D

Or you could wait for the XP2800 that will fly :)

Whatever you do, don't try searching for a price for the MP2200+ in the USA. It will make you weep!

Meady, who wonders why they're soooo much cheaper over there....

 Terminator remembers he's going to New York for a holiday in November and wonders if he can wait that long :D

By then they might have the MP2600+ available! :D

Ah but if you are in the states then buy you processors over there as they are cheaper :)

Terminator

That's if I can wait that long :D

TIA

Where you planning to get the MB from Termie, need to avail myself of one too but Scan's is sans LAN.

I found it HERE (http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?action=info&p=19715&t=845&l=2&AvdID=1&CatID=10&GrpID=5&s=pl) at Komplett.co.uk, still can't make my mind up to go duallie or get a killer XP2200+ system instead - oh, decisions.. decisions.. :)

Thanks Termie, looks like I'll be flexing my plastic bits soon :D. I also need to see whether I can use a XP2200 in my current Mbs, worst case scenario is they won't and I'll be on the look out for a single mobo too.....what a shame :D

While not in the UK....I just set up (last nite) the
2200+ MP dual system. Holey Moley:eek: do these babies
run hot!!!!!! Not sure how the internal diode compares
to what we're used to. At idle, with an AX-7, Panaflo
U1a (47cfm) and a 120mm (68 cfm) blowing about 4" from
it, the bios reports 55c idle:eek: I removed the heatsink
checked the AS-3 and reseated both cpu's. Better set the
auto shut off up a little bit.

BTW.....these things scream!!:D

55c idle  I don't like the sound of that ! make sure you update us later with the load temps :)

Argh, just don't know what to do

sorry....load is 58, 62 on cpu0 and cpu1. Not much jump
from idle. Looking for articles on the internal diode and
how accurate is really is........
I'm running them at 1.944 (13.5 x 144) and stable with no
increase in vcore. I'll run benches tomorrow;)

Thanks, What motherboard are you using ? :)

I seem to remember somewhere that the internal diode readings are a good few degrees higher that the usual external thermistor approach.

Going to go with the MSI but will probably wimp out and go for 2 XP1900's until the 2400 / 2600's are easily available.

MSI K7D Master L. 512 Registered Crucial.
I heard you can use unbufferred on this mobo but
there is a sticker on the manual that says Registered Only!
