Hmmmmm This TSC program. Is it command line or GUI? Does it required to be installed or is it just a single file with the .cfg files that I can put in a folder and run from there?

Reason I need to know is because most of the Borg Cubes here are Diskless Nodes running off an Apache/NFS Linux Server. So it wouldn't be able to run anything with Java or any other such dependancies.

Or if someone could post a link to the page and I could check it out myself.

NM I just found it myself. Noticed it needs the JVM so unfortunately I'm out.

Oh well. Good Luck to Team Ninja.

Comes with it's own Java runtime, plus you don't need the window open or even in the task bar to run it. All I have is a small applet in the system tray. :)

The unfortunate thing is that I can't run it on most of my boxes. The only ones I could run it on are my one windows and one Linux box and I like to keep the fleet working on only one project at any one time.

The problem is that I'm using GAHnix (http://www.dnaresearch.com/gahnix.html) created by DNAR and it boots off of floppies and then maps directories as a local drive from a Linux Server I have running. Only projects which do not require any type of Java Dependencies or any other dependencies are useable. I can do Seti@HOme, Genome@Home, Folding, RC5 and a couple others as well as they are just a single command line I can run off the box.

Right now most of my fleet (except the above mentioned machines) can are running GAHnix (http://www.dnaresearch.com/gahnix.html)

If the JVM wasn't required then I'd probably switch over for a while to help you guys kick some butt. If they ever do come out with a version that doesn't require it then let me know and I'll definatley look into joining the team and using the full power of The CollectiveŽ.

It's a real shame that several good DC clients are Java apps. Java requires a graphical interface and also performs quite poorly in terms of CPU utilisation (Java itself is power hungry, leaving less CPU for the app itself). The main reason developers have used Java is they only have one source code tree to maintain to cover all platforms... Slack... Nothing beets a good C program, yet you then need a version for each platform. Checkout RC5, those guys have a client for everything, including Mac's, Win3.11 and mainframes... An awesome project IMHO.

I opened up the task manager on one of my machines and noticed that java was using 20% of the cpu time, so I closed the window and just left the engine running and the client went straight up to 99% cpu usage :)

If you will look at the README under the TSC folder you will find an entry on how to run the client without the Gui. Just a small matter of editing the 'launch.xen' file. Instant Cli client. :D

and you can toggle the gui on and off too :D. I have heard with sengent that it will keep track of the results and it helps to open up the gui every once in a while to keep from haveing a huge bunch of un-needed data. Not to sure if they ever got around to fixing that though it was right when they started the cli client
