Hi folks,

NinjaMicros is moving on up to a semi-dedicated server *yay!* The move will happen tomorrow night at around this time (Monday, July 8, 11:30 EST) and downtime is expected to be about 20 minutes.

Thanks,

Goooood Luck.. Server moves can be tricky but I am sure it will go off without a hitch.

This move really will be pretty easy. It's nothing fancy, just going from one box to another. The advantages will be worth it though. Currently, we are sharing a box with 130 other sites..when this is done, we will only be sharing with 20 MAX. That alone will be a huge difference in speed. The new box will also have 512MB more RAM than our current one. So, I am sure you will see a huge difference in speed when this is all done, and with the added bandwidth, we will be able to have a pretty good sized download section as well!

Could we refrain from openly bashing our webhost? We happen to be very happy with them and I have every confidence the move will be seamless.

Well, my suggestion to you is if you aren't happy with them, then switch. We are extremely happy with their hosting, and even more happy with their customer service. I have yet to find another host who treats their customers like PEOPLE, and not just a monthly income. We have done several server moves with them, some of which were so flawless we didn't even need to announce it, and the forum downtime was less than 10 minutes.

Well I was refering to the problems here, There have been so many times that things have no gone "flawless" I cannot count. But since an opinion cannot be expressed "openly" I will shut up

You expressed your opinion, and I expressed mine. If you don't want to get criticized when you make a statement people disagree with, then you are right, just shut up. Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean you can't voice your opinion, it simply means someone has a different view, and may argue your statement. There have been many debates on this forum where members disagreed with other members, and yet they all voiced their opinions "openly".

Yeah Allen mentioned yesterday while we were talking that you guys were going to semi-dedicated server. Good luck with the move and such, dont jynx yourselves before you start though :). Allen is a great guy and will really go out of his way to help smooth out problems. Sometimes, problems just happen I guess. :)

I can't really comment on anything else since I'm spoiled with thousands of dollars of servers and balancers here at work on multiple T connections. So I think all the little webhosts suck, myself ;)

Too bad I cant sneak my little personal sites up on the work servers though ;)

Well you seem a lil defensive here Mike especially considering that my comment was not earmarked towards you I was in fact referring to the comment about "not openly bashing the webhost". And I agree many debates will occur. Well I will leave it at that.

Technically f5 have had their share of problems, maybe even more than their fairshare... it is hard to be a good judge on that question!

However in terms of the attitude of the company and their support, they have been exceptionally good :sunshine:

I for one will continue to wholeheartedly recommend f5.

I don't want to see F5 bashed like this on any of these forums. They bend over backwards for us and I wont disrespect them by allowing statements like that. For the record, the only 'less than flawless' moves we have had been NOC related (out of F5's control) or when *we* didn't close the forums at the precise time we should have. Two DOS attacks in the last month, again, not their fault, it happens anywhere and everywhere. Server latency is another issue (and having been through several hosts over the last few years is a non-issue IMHO), and not the issue at hand, so to make a general statement that they are 'the worst webhosts' I feel is unjust.

People should look at the other weenies on a shared box that bring a server to it's knees before they blame the host. Something we won't have to worry about after tonight's move.

The purpose of this post was to inform our members of brief downtime tonight.

Can't argue with anyone about that I guess. Trust me, we were frustrated for a while just like everyone else, but I think that rough spot is over, and I for one am glad we decided to hang tight and ride the choppy sea. We haven't had any real problems in the last month or so, barring our bandwidth limit ;) and I think with the semi dedicated server, we will be running smooth as glass!

NY, I apologize if I sounded defensive, and I guess perhaps I was alittle. But when people say things like "can't express opinions openly", it irks me abit. No insult intended.

Chelle as I said "one of the worst hosts I have ever seen" Key words being "I have ever seen". What I said was my opinion and although it may not be your opinion. I do respect your opinion very much, but when you say you do not want to see someone say something that you may not agree with, that is wrong. If you cannot openly say something without the thought of censorship in the back of your mind, then things are very bad.

Mike, sorry if I made it seem as though I was referring tou you I did not mean it that way. No insult taken.

Rob, I do respect your opinion, I just feel that was statement was unfair to our landlords who work very hard for our sites.

Actually, it is VERY unfair to us. This guy says we are the "worst hosts I've ever seen", but he failed to mention that I spent my time yesterday on IM with Player0 discussing the bandwidth issue that they seem to have. He failed to mention that I told him that he would NOT be charged if he went over a few gigs with his site. (which I am entitled to charge him 4.00 per gig over his allotment in 10 gig blocks = 40.00 as soon as he goes over...Am I going to do this? NO! I will eat the 40.00 for him and his site...but he fails to mention this!) He failed to mention that our support team is all over any support issues that they have ever raised. He failed to mention that we bent over backwards for them and their site just as we have and do for ninjamicros and every other site that we host.

He also failed to mention any reasoning behind his post. Just what makes us the "worst host" you've ever seen? Did we charge you wrong? Did we do something to your site? Has our support been terrible? Have we treated you or anyone on your site with ANY disrespect? Have we not answered your complaints or your tickets in a timely manner? Have we sabotaged your site or caused you any harm at all? Not just no, but HELL no we haven't! If our service is so bad, why is your site still pumping our bandwidth? Why is your site still gracing our servers?

The fact is, our service is NOT bad at all. For every one of you people who say we are a bad host, I can give you 300 who say otherwise!

So, the next time you come at us, you had better come heavy or don't come at all!

I apologise to the members of this board and this site that you guys had to see me get this upset, but we have been slighted and slandered. The post that he made, withoiut ANY credible evidence to back it up, could hurt any potential business that we may get from this site...this is Slander in America.

Im not a very happy camper at the moment.

Can't blame you for being upset Allen, those comments were very ill considered and I think you and f5 should get an apology.

I guess NY must have very limited experience with different web hosts, otherwise he would know better that to make such a statement

My experience of your support is that it is prompt (subject to the fact that it is not yet 24hour cover) and what matters most is that you actually give a damn about your customers :) The fact that you are posting here in the first place speaks volumes about your involvement with your customers

:( Sorry you've been upset Allen, but it's understandable.

I would just like to say thank you for all the help and assistance you've given me and the attention you've shown my concerns when I've contacted you regarding this site even tho I'm not an admin here.

Hi Allen,

Obviously NinjaMicros is not the best place to discuss hosting issues concerning LiquidNinjas, so Im not going to go in to details about our deal with F5. I am soely responsible for the hosting issues with LiquidNinjas, and have been the only one working with F5. Yes, there have been some problems, things that were poorly timed. LN started right during some F5 server problems and before the swap to Neptune, and perhaps its my fault for not explaining enough of the details. It is certainly not LN.coms position to slander anyone else.

Allen has gone out of his way to help me, especially last night when we talked about a few things. Any problems we may have with our parteners should be kept behind the scenes. I can't speak for NY, and I respect his opinion. Im kind of between a rock and a hardplace here. But these are not things that should be discussed publically, especially on a different site. Please email/IM me if you'd like to talk about this further.

I hope everyone understands my position :)

As one of Player0's partners on LiquidNinjas, I agree with him wholeheartedly that this forum is not the place to discuss specific web hosting issues....not for anyone's site. This is a thread for the owners of NM to inform their membership about a server change that is pending and nothing more.

Because we have a "managment team" style at LN, we all have different duties and are not always completely up to speed with each other's areas of responsibilities. I support Rob 100% and trust his judgement. But, because P0 handles the web hosting end of things, I beleive Rob may have made his comments without all the relevant facts at his disposal. I do not beleive Rob meant to intentionally start this big of an issue.

My apologies to anyone who may have been offended by this thread.

Best Regards,

NorthernYankee

Thank you NY. Since everyone has had their say and we'll be moving shortly there's not much left to discuss so Im going to close this thread now.
