REVIEWS ARE GO!

We are now open for business and would be happy to accept reviews of Hardware, Software and Games (PC or Console). :)
After long deliberation we have decided to take a different route to all of the portal sites and publish them manually, giving us a lot more freedom in the layout and allowing us to keep a more individual look to the site. The reviews should all be posted in one of three holding forums (one for each category), where a permanent copy will be stored for future use should we decide to use the up-coming vBulletin 3 portal system (content templates are available for each of the categories in their respective holding forums). In the mean time however, the review, including any images, will be formatted for publishing on the website and a link added to the review index by one of the admin staff, thus leaving the reviewer to concentrate on content rather than layout. If you want your pics to appear in a certain place in the review, you can simply divide your review into separate posts within the thread, and place the pics where you want them to go, like such: http://www.ninjamicros.com/vbulletin//showthread.php3?s=&threadid=12127
Then, they can be placed next to the relevant text if that works for your review.

How to publish a Review:

1) The review should be written to follow the template set down for that particular category. (Member)
2) The completed review (including images) should be posted in the relevant forum. (Member)
3) The content will be copied into a template and formatted for publication (Admin)
4) The review will be published on the website (Admin)
5) An entry will be made in the review index. (Admin)

Finished reviews can be seen here: http://www.ninjamicros.com/reviews/

So come on people, the facility is there and we are raring to go - lets have some reviews and get this show on the road :)

I'm sorting one out for you at the mo, but where's the "holding" forums  and the example link in the first post tells me I don't have permissions to view it.

Hope I'm not being thick :D

That's ok, they are there but we need to sort out the permissions, which will be done today :)

Just a note on this. For the time being, we are keeping the reviews threads isolated from the rest of the forums, mainly to keep the clean look we have now. We have had some members voice concerns about the amount of forums that are visible, so we want to keep it "as-is" for now. However, gaining access to these are as simple as telling us you want to write a review. When you have your first review done, please just pm or email anyone of the admins, and will set the access for you. Terminator, yours is done now, just so you know.

I realize I'm a little slow sometimes (Hush Jules!), but the only way I can see to get to the reviews is the button on the front page. Am I missing something? If not, would it be possible to add a button at the top of the sign-in page so we can get to them from the main index?

Well, my resident button guru is on temp leave due to a death in the family, but when she returns, I am sure that something can be worked out. I think I am going to have to reorganize those buttons though, as they are starting to get to be a bit "bulkish" on the top right...
