Vin Diesel has agreed to star in three sequels to the very missable science fiction / horror film "Pitch Black." The three films will focus on the character of Riddick who as a minor and supporting character in the first film. Director David Twohy told Variety that "We think of 'Pitch Black' like 'The Hobbit' was to 'Lord of the Rings.' They were places to find one of your characters, enabling you to take them to different places in subsequent films." Yeah, that's a real stretch. "The Chronicles of Riddick," should begin filming this year.
Zzzzzzzzzz It's easy for a homicidal character to stand out in a film that I had to watch twice to reach the end. Even the monsters were a poor "Aliens" type clone.
In a real "novel" twist they even made Riddick turn softie towards the end. A real knight in black shining armour.

I have to agree that "Pitch Black" was not all it was cracked up to be. ;) Only time will tell if these new flicks are good or not.

Quite enjoyed it myself, although I must admit to being not quite 100% sober :D

Hmm,
I liked the early part of "Pitch Black", the voice over, the ship crashing, but the film really had a poor script and some very dire actors in. The FX were very pretty though, I loved the shadow and light effects.

I would probably look at a few reviews for the next film, but if they have a better story line in it (and they might, as Vin Diesel isn't a small time actor any more), and some better supporting actors it might be worth watching.
