Joss Whedon tried to alay fears that network meddling was going to ruin his new science fiction series "Firefly." The series is set aboard a starship in the distant future, but the Fox network is apparently unhappy with the pilot.
Whedon told fans at the Saturn Awards that, "One of the struggles that I'm having with Fox is that I pitched the show as a drama with action in it, but Fox wants more action and less drama, so we've gone back to shoot more action scenes." Whedon didn't disagree with the move toward action, but he was not happy with another Fox idea. "Fox thinks we don't need to start with the story of how they got started, though I don't necessarily agree. Maybe Fox should just add a wrestling show and they can have all the mindless action they need."
As usual the bosses always know best, even when they haven't a clue.

You'd think they'd learn! I just watched "Butch Cassiday and the Sundance Kid" on AMC last night - one of the great films of all time. Well, it was letterbox, and they had trivia tidbits across the bottom part during the film (in the black part outside the box, so no screen obstruction). It was very interesting to see all the hair-brained ideas the "big-wigs" had - including casting Marlon Brando in the film! It's amazing good films or TV shows ever get made! :D
