Hey all, I just discovered this website thru google, and I can't believe ppl still o/c their slot a t-birds! ;) I was beginning to think I was alone heh :D Anyways, my comp specs are in the sig below, and I want to extract all the performance I can from my 945MHz t-bird. I already saw a couple of threads in this board, and it appears that the GlobalWin VOS32 and Freespeed Pro GFD is the way to go.
I found a pretty good bargin for the VOS32, but I am currently clueless for the GFD. Anyone know where I can purchase one of these quality o/c'ers? I also wanted to know what you guys think about my path to the 1GHz range using this 900MHz t-bird? My mobo currently runs at 33C, and the CPU at 44C during idle times. This is due to 2 80mm case fans running at 3360rpm, and a generic 1 fan HS that's pulling in 6620rpm (replacing this w/ VOS32). Is this a good environment for the 1GHz range? Ah well, till I get my credit card from the mail I can't buy anything online yet :p Thanks to all that reply to this thread! :)

Welcome to Ninja. We are the home of Slot A overclocking and some of us are still at it. :D
You T'bird should easily hit a gig with a Vos32 and a GFD. www.protoncomputers.com still sell a version of a GFD.
With the amount of fans you've got and a Vos I'm a little suprised that your temps are that high. Where are you getting your reading from?

Hi Lolboy, thanks for welcoming me! :) I checked out the link you gave me to Proton Computers, and I can't find the GFD you're talking about. There's a Northwind GFD (rev.3) that cost $25.00, but it says sold out :(
Anyways, I found a Freespeed Pro GFD that's going for just $9.00 at some bargin bin site. I guess I'll be picking that up, as well as the VOS32 from Cooler Xtreme, Inc. Too bad Directron doesn't have them at $25.00 anymore :/
BTW, I don't have a VOS32 yet... :D I'm getting my temps using ASUS PC Probe (latest version). I'm also sticking my thermal sensor straight into the hole of the heatplate side of the SECC (Single Edge Contact Cartridge).

Well done for finding a FSPro. I wonder if the Northwind is still in production or whether its just sold out for now?
Have you checked out my website for some info on the best place to put your probe? http://uk.geocities.com/lolboy_ninja
Let us know how you get on when you get your overclocking bits.

Ok, here's a little update for whomever this may concern :) I am now searching for the best deal for a GFD I need to reach above a GHz. It appears someone has bought the $9.00 Freespeed Pro GFD before me, so I have to find another one  I already took off the case using your guide Lolboy :D You're right, the final pin was a pain-in-the-a$$! I think it took me well over an hour struggling with it, and when it snapped, my heart stopped beating ;)
Anyways, the debug port is now revealed in all its glory, waiting for a GFD to be plugged in. The unveiling of the port, however, did come with a price. I bent a corner of the heatplate pretty bad, but who gives a damn right? Heh Hmm, what else... Oh and I repositioned my thermal sensor to about the same area as Lolboy's guide. My temp is now 1C higher than it was before, but I'm accepting it
