Without chracking open the case what are my OC options? I forgot the name of the heat sink I have but it's supposed to be one of the best for the slot A's It has two Global Win fan's on it.

Also what is the most current BIOS for this board both unhacked and with the raid hack, and where can I get them?

MannyL,

Welcome to the board:)

Without cracking the case, your only choice will be to overclock via the FSB. The KA7 was usually good for a FSB overclock in the 108 to 112 range. With a fixed multplier of 8.5, this would get you to the 920mhz to 950mhz range.

How far you can get the FSB to go wil depend on whether you're using quality memory. You should be running the memory asynchronously on that KA7, meaning your memory bus will be at 133mhz while the FSB is at 100mhz. The setting is FSB +PCI. The formula is Mem Bus = FSB + 1/3FSB. So at 110 FSB the memory will be at 146mhz....and you will need some quality PC133 to run that with stability.

Don't forget to up the CPU Core voltage and keep an eye on cooling. Sounds like you may have an Alpha P7125 or a VOS32 HSF which would do the job.

You can get all the BIOSes from Paul's KA7 FAQ here (http://www.viahardware.com/faq/ka7/ka7faq.htm)

Good luck:)

Well actully it's welcome back to the board. I've been gone so long it forgot me. LOL
As soon as I read VOS32 I remembered thats what I have!

According to Sisoft's Sandra I have 3 256mb chips in my system (which is correct)

It shows the following

Bank 0 Setting 128MN SDRAM 7-A-A-AR 4-1-1-1W 3-3CL
Bank 1 Setting 128MN SDRAM 7-A-A-AR 4-1-1-1W 3-3CL
Bank 2 Setting 128MN SDRAM 7-A-A-AR 4-1-1-1W 3-3CL
Bank 3 Setting 128MN SDRAM 7-A-A-AR 4-1-1-1W 3-3CL
Bank 4 Setting 128MN SDRAM 7-A-A-AR 4-1-1-1W 3-3CL
Bank 5 Setting 128MN SDRAM 7-A-A-AR 4-1-1-1W 3-3CL
Bank Interleave 2-way
Speed 1X 100MHZ

Memory Module 1 is a Micron 16LSDT3246AG-13EE3 070E9B47 256MB 16x(16Mx8) SDREAM PC133U-222-542 CL3 upto 143MHz) (CL2 upto 133MHz)
Memory Module 2 is a Micron 16LSDT3246AG-13EE3 070E9B35 256MB 16x(16Mx8) SDREAM PC133U-222-542 CL3 upto 143MHz) (CL2 upto 133MHz)
Memory Module 3 is a SpecTek 12864500 256MB 16x(16Mx8) SDRAM PC133U-333-542(CL3 upto 133MHz)

I have no idea what any of that means! I do have a good old Free Speed Pro but I don't feel like cracking this chip open. My previous chip and board died for no apparant reason. I had a spare board and picked up a new CPU on auction.
