Stephen Wolfram has a habit of standing the science world on its toes, and his book A New Kind of Science has done nothing to alter that reputation. The story of the epic is as fascinating as the epic itself. By Steven Levy from WiredMore here (http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/10.06/wolfram.html)

Yeah, a friend of mine thinks very highly of this guy and told me all about him. Supposedly he wrote that SMP language *very* quickly... I don't remember how quickly, but it was a "holy carp" type of quick ;) (Think that was the language, either that or a previous one, but I think my friend said it was the one before Mathematica so that would make it SMP.)
If what we have to start with is atoms... and a few basic structures within those atoms... it makes sense that the universe could be coded in 4 lines, don't you think? Otherwise, that would be a whole lot of assuming... ;)
