Help!

The Flagship is now fully tested, and seems to be performing really well, except for.....

DF!

It outperforms all my "older" computers by a factor of about 5 on Seti, G@H, etc. but when I run DF, it runs very slowly. My PIIIE 500 Coppermine crunches DF faster!

Is DF Intel-biased? The Flagship is AMD based - an XP-1900 on a FICA mobo, with 512 Mb RAM.

I found the performance to be nearly the same on my P4-1700, 512MB RDRAM, Abit TH7-II compared to a XP1800+ (overclocked to 1670), 256MB SDRAM, Epox 8KTA3+

 Don't really have any suggestions as to the problem, what does in produce in a 24hr period ? I'll check mine and let you know so you can compare it and see if there is any major difference :)

I won't have a full 24 hours until tomorrow, about 6pm, but based on what it's done so far, probably no more than about 45,000! :(

That does seem to be lower than I would expect - I estimate that I get about 70,000 - 80,000 apiece from the 2 mentioned above

/edit : Which model of FICA mobo is it ?

My PIII@866 used to crunch about 55,000, so this is very poor performance (based on the first 5 hours or so).

I think I'll take it offline, and run Sandra to see if there's anything amiss.

Meady, who hopes not, as he's not had the best of luck with computers lately...

Check the memory benchmarks, DF seems to like lots of memory bandwidth :)

Meady, what are you comparing the performance with? Is it another machine running the same client or figures from when you last ran DF? Reason I'm asking is that the current phase is using a far larger structure than the last. During the previous phase Chelle and I were turning in at least 1 million a day whereas now we are doing 350~450k.

It's a good job you're here, Rids. Suddenly all seems a lot clearer....:o

Pour two m8e, I had a rough day.:D
Near as I can tell this Amd 1700(no clocking) 256mb pc2100 is close to 55k a day, when it's not gaming.
Combined with an Athy 1gig 128mb pc100 I'm getting nearly 90k a day. So Meady is right to be concerned it would seem sommat ain't right.

Jeez I'm starting to get all geeky. I've got three bottles in the fridge that'll cure that.;)
