Twentieth Century Fox and Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars: Episode II--Attack of the Clones will be released in just 3,161 theaters in North America on May 16, several hundred fewer than Spider-Man or other similar blockbuster movies. But Episode II will open in 74 countries on May 16 and 17, the biggest worldwide release of a film ever, the studios announced.
The release also marks the largest digital presentation for a film, with 94 digital-projection theaters in 17 markets, including the United States and Canada.
