Rick McCallum, producer of Star Wars: Episode II--Attack of the Clones, confirmed for the Empire Online Web site that George Lucas will make additional changes to the original Star Wars films for their eventual DVD release. The first three films--Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi--won't come out on DVD for at least three more years, the site reported. Lucas has already tinkered with the three films for earlier "special editions" that were released theatrically and on VHS.

"Three years is a long time, but that's how long it takes," McCallum told the site. When asked if new footage shot during the production of Episode II will make its way into the DVD releases, McCallum replied: "Absolutely."
