RESEARCHERS AT THE University of Cambridge in England have invalidated the security systems in many smart card systems by developing a way of attacking and causing faults in cards using common tools such as a photographer's flash gun and a microscope. More here (http://www.infoworld.com/articles/hn/xml/02/05/14/020514hncambridge.xml) They were so afraid to release this information that it has been over a year since they developed the cracking technique and the researchers wanted to wait until new silicon technology could be developed to block the cracking attempts.
